ANIMAL CARVINGS David Evans and Richard Taylor produce a wide variety of wooden objects, in particular, David's animal carvings. The smaller chainsaw carvings take many forms including pigs, bears, ducks, dogs, foxes, badgers, owls. mushrooms and giant snails. Whilst initially produced to adorn cross country jumps they have proved popular as garden features and added interest to many commercial premises. As part of building the cross county course for the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, David produced many animals of eastern origin, such as dragons, pandas, giant carp and pot-bellied pigs!! The dragon head carving to the right formed part of a jump on the Olympic Cross Country course and featured on the front page of the South China Morning Post! Whilst most sculptures are produced on commission, most years we also have trade stands at Chatsworth, Gatcombe and Blenheim horse trials.

LOG JUMP CARVINGSLarge logs can also be carved into cross country jumps specific to your design, or to suit the character of the log itself. These can be painted or brush/greenery added to suit specific technical or design requirements. Logs have been turned into feature fences specific to a sponsors request as with the 'Hunter' welly (latterly the Dubarry boot) at Gatcombe. Other logs carved into jumps by David Evans include the 'Crouching Dragons' for the Hong Kong Olympic course in 2008, 'Nessie' at Gatcombe, ducks (Hong Kong Olympic course, Blenheim and Chatsworth) 'green man' style heads, castles, fish, dogs, hedgehogs, mushrooms, squirrels and bottles. Any request can be produced, if physically possible!! |

THE CHATSWORTH SCULPTURESIn a unique marriage of art and equestrianism, the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire commissioned leading contemporary British artists to design and produce sculptures for Chatsworth Park that could also act as fences for the International Horse Trials. These now form a unique element to the cross country course at Chatsworth, and act as visitor attractions for the remainder of the year. David Evans worked with the artists and built two of these five fences to their designs. These are'Pegasus'by Tim Harrisson, and 'The Two Graces' by Allen James. |
